The big story to come from Microsoft? Considering what the Guardian newspaper has just revealed, there is a very good chance… Indeed, the American giant recently updated Microsoft 365, a service for companies containing the latest version of Microsoft Office and set cloud services.
Only, it seems that the firm has activated a feature that may cringe: it is now possible to monitor employees through the functionality “productivity score”.
Microsoft 365 adds annoying feature
Microsoft has been criticized for enabling “workplace monitoring” after privacy activists warned that the company’s “productivity score” feature allowed managers to use Microsoft 365 for monitor the activity of their employees at the individual level.
Basically, these tools are supposed to “provide visibility into the functioning of the organization” and consolidate information. Only, by default, it is now possible to explore employee data individually to see “those who participate less in group conversations, send fewer emails or fail to collaborate in shared documents.”
We are waiting for Microsoft’s response…
