Since Microids remastered the Asterix & Obélix XXL trilogy, we have not received any new video games from this iconic couple in the world of comics. The real novelty will take place next November with the beat ’em up Asterix & Obélix: Slap them All! how good it looks graphically.
And the good thing is that Microids has just signed an agreement with Albert Rene Editions to guarantee other three more video games in the next five years, eye!
In the words of Stéphane Longeard, CEO of Microids:
We are honored to continue our relationship with Albert Rene Editions in order to further explore the Asterix franchise with our video games. The renewal of trust by the owner of said IP is a real delight.
The development studios at Microids are working hard to ensure maximum loyalty with the franchise created by Uderzo and Goscinny, so they can focus on creating highly enjoyable experiences for all types of players. We can’t wait to start unveiling more information on the next three titles.
For now, no names have been given for those video games, except that they will belong to different genders. Let’s not forget that the remasters have been of adventure games, platforms and action, having in the future Asterix & Obélix: Slap them All! all a “me against the neighborhood” in full rule, in the line of the classic Arcadian that had Konami inheriting the style of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles of 89 and that also replicated the recreational one of The Simpsons in 1991.
