In the field of health you should always look for improve medical practice. It doesn’t matter if they are students or professionals with decades of experience because you never stop learning. Although it is not enough to have the disposition, it is necessary to have enough tools to achieve it.
Based on the above, the directors of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), Arturo Reyes Sandoval, and the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (Issste), Pedro Zenteno Santaella, signed a collaboration agreement. The objective is to contribute to the development of projects, programs and actions to improve the quality of medical practice and health care.
What does it consist of?
The agreement, valid indefinitely, establishes that both institutions will take advantage of their respective human, material and financial resources for the operation of mutually beneficial strategies in the medical area.
In the Hall of Former Directors of the National School of Biological Sciences Zacatenco Unit of the IPN, they agreed that cooperation between educational institutions and the health sector is essential for the development of medical training and care. In addition to reflecting great coordination, which is a fundamental part of the transformation that the country’s institutions and public life in Mexico are undergoing.
The head of the IPN, Arturo Reyes Sandoval, stressed that they will not only support the training of doctors in natural settings. He will also follow up on the resident trainingas a witness of their achievements, progress and their ability to resolve pressing situations.
“This sum of our respective capacities is transcendent because it seeks to respond to the social requirements of offering pertinent study programs that affect the immediate medical care of the various public health problems.”
Improving medical practice from the university
He mentioned that it is planned to immediately formalize the Specific Agreements of Academic Collaboration in matters of Clinical Cycles and Undergraduate Medical Internship for students of the National School of Medicine and Homeopathy.
Additionally, it will seek to continue this cooperation with the participation of the different academic units in the health area. The goal is to complement the education of students of this house of studies.
The general director of Issste, Pedro Zenteno, pointed out that this agreement will allow outlining the project in terms of prevention in the health system given the high percentage of the population with conditions such as diabetes, obesity and hypertension.
“With the Polytechnic we are going to visualize this strategy to guide the Health sector to put prevention at the center of the discussion. If since the 60s, early 70s, the Issste had looked at the importance of it, we would have a different situation in Mexico”.
After pointing out that the agreement will allow the enrichment of the ISSSTE staff and will open the doors of the medical units to the IPN students, Pedro Zenteno thanked this collaboration and pointed out that the students will be able to count on the support of the institute to strengthen their knowledge and improve the care provided to the right.
