Based on the above, Mexico will now have an ambitious digital hospital and it is the new CHRISTUS MUGUERZA Hospital – University of Monterrey (UDEM). An investment of 1,500 million pesos was allocated for its construction and equipment.
With the assistance of managers from both institutions, the first stone of this ambitious project was laid. This highly specialized hospital is planned to be ready to open in 2025. It will also be located in the area surrounding the UDEM San Pedro High School, within the grounds of the UDEM campus in the municipality of San Pedro Garza García.
“The project excites us and challenges us due to its construction and equipment, which involves innovation and the highest technology. It marks a before and after in the community because it will be a digital hospital that will be able to serve the population of the area that will have great growth and will benefit from having first-class medical care nearby. This will undoubtedly improve the quality of life of many people,” said Álvaro Fernández Garza, president of the UDEM Council.
Characteristics of the new digital hospital in Mexico
The medical center joins the CHRISTUS MUGUERZA hospital network, having a total of 16 nationwide. This new hospital will have a Electronic Clinical Record, clinical, educational and research processes supported by Artificial Intelligence, augmented reality and robotics applied in medicine.
In this regard, Horacio Garza Ghio, general director of CHRISTUS MUGUERZA, indicated that “we currently have three hundred percent digital hospitals, and we are deploying [más]. If we can say that this hospital is going to be characterized by something, it is innovation. This comes to build or reinforce the construction of the best healthcare system based on digital technology”.
In addition, you will have 56 rooms, 60 medical offices, six operating rooms, emergency services, general surgery, intensive care unit for adults and pediatrics, imaging and specialized laboratories, among others. The property itself will have 36,700 square meters of construction.
It will become the first medical center in the private sector to meet the growing demand for medical care in the Valle Poniente area, covering the municipalities of San Pedro Garza García and Santa Catarina. It is projected that, annually, it will provide services to more than 50,000 patients, which will generate more than 500 jobs in the region.

The medical center will join the Hospital-School network for UDEM Health Sciences students. It will be a place where the new generations of health professionals, from doctors to nurses, dentists, nutritionists, psychologists and biomedical engineers, will offer comprehensive care to patients.
The degree of labor immersion of these future specialists in the Hospital will be lived from the first semesters of the academic programs through learning processes based on action, case management and problems. In addition, it may receive residents from other institutions to the extent that there are corresponding agreements with the UDEM.
Since 2003 CHRISTUS MUGUERZA and UDEM have joined efforts to contribute to the well-being of their community, placing the CHRISTUS MUGUERZA Conchita Hospital and the Casa Cuna Conchita Adoption Center at their service.
