Authorities from the Ministry of Health and the government of Sonora installed the first State Inter-institutional Command of the Health Sector nationwide. Being the first of its kind, it will be in charge of identifying health risks and establishing care strategies with support and intervention from all the institutions that make up the public and private health sector. This strategy will be implemented in the states to provide coverage at the national level.

In this regard, the undersecretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell Ramírez, described as Transcendent for the history of health in Mexico, the installation of the first Inter-institutional State Command of the Health Sector. He said that it is aimed at coordinating the health response capacity and the exchange of services of public and private institutions.
The universalization of health in Mexico
As an example of this coordination of efforts, he referred to the hospital conversion that took place at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. With this, the installed capacity was increased six times, thus responding to the demand for attention to the people of Mexico.

At the installation ceremony of the Inter-institutional State Command of the Health SectorLópez-Gatell Ramírez recognized the contributions of the state authorities in medical attention and proposed to the governor of Sonora, Alfonso Durazo Montaño, to be the first federal entity to establish the National Public Health Service in the entity and to implement the rethinking of the sanitary jurisdictions to convert them into Health Districts for Well-being, which will start operating next year.
He said that these mechanisms respond to the agreement by which the Health Care Model for Well-being (MAS-Bienestar) is issued, published in the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF) on October 25, 2022, with the constitution of the Health Coordinating Centers for Well-being.
He argued that these instruments will represent a profound transformation of the National Health System, as the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS-Welfare) is already pushing, by keeping pace with changes in the matter.
The Secretary of Public Health of the state of Sonora and president of the State Inter-institutional Command of the Health Sector, José Luis Alomía Zegarra, pointed out that the work of the command that is installed today, as well as the other actions in health matters, are carried out in a coordinated manner with institutions and organizations, both public and private, with the aim of responding to the welfare needs of Sonorans.
Who make it up?
The Inter-institutional State Command of the Health Sector It is made up of the Secretaries of National Defense (Sedena) and the Navy (Semar); IMSS; Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (Issste); the Secretary of Public Health of Sonora (SSP); Issste Sonora (Isssteson), State Commission for Protection against Sanitary Risks (Coepris) Sonora; and the Northwest Private Hospital Association.
Its objective is to identify health risks for their improvement, standardizing care processes, impacting the quality of comprehensive care for patients at the state level, with the support and intervention of all the institutions that make up the public and private health sector.
