The income of foreign currency in Mexico from international visitorsin January-September 2023, was 22,908 million dollars, 11.8% more compared to the same period in 2022The Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) of the Mexican Government reported this Monday.
With this foreign exchange acquisition, Mexico exceeded what it received between January and September 2019 by 23.3%That is, before the Covid-19 pandemic, when they totaled 18,572 million dollars.
In a statement, the head of Sectur, Miguel Torruco, highlighted that, based on the results of the International Traveler Survey, published by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), between January and September 2023, Some 30.86 million international tourists entered the country.
This, he explained, represents 12.1% more than what was collected in January-September 2022.
It also exceeds the currencies of the same period of 2019 by 26.1%pre-pandemic, which were 16,934 million dollars.
The report specified that in the first nine months of 2023, 16.77 million tourists arrived in Mexico by air.that is, 8.1% more compared to the same period in 2022.

Meanwhile, the income of foreign currency from tourists by air, between January and September 2023, registered an increase of 9.9% compared to the same period in 2022, registering 19.17 million dollars.
The note also noted that the average spending of tourists by air during January-September 2023 was $1,143, a growth of 1.6% compared to the same period in 2022.
Sectur stated that from January to September 2023, 6.64 million cruise passengers arrived at the country’s different ports.
The foreign currency income from excursionists on cruises from January to September 2023 amounted to 544.5 million dollars.
Torruco reported that, from January to September 2023, the balance of international visitors was 16.32 million dollars, this is 4.7% more than in the same period of 2022.
