A Mexican will be punished with 30 lashes in Qatar after breaking the law (In a recent update, the case was denied. Read the outcome of the story).
Who is supposedly the brother of Agustín Jaramillo has asked for the help of Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard.
The World Cup will begin today, with the match between Ecuador and Qatar.
Yesterday a video of a Mexican who allegedly had hidden a bottle of alcohol in Qatar, a country where it was mentioned that its sale or entry would not be allowed, went viral: today it was announced that the Mexican will receive 30 lashes for breaking the law.
So far, no Mexican authority has expressed itself in this regard, however, this is not the first similar case that has gone unpunished. Paola Schietekat is a Mexican who arrived in Doha in February 2020 to work for the Qatari government in the organization of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
However, she was the victim of a sexual assault for which the government of said country, far from doing justice, sentenced her to 7 years in prison and 100 lashes in public. The intervention of the Mexican Foreign Minister, Marcelo Ebrard, after having met with the young woman, managed to close the case through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, however, the young woman declared that her case probably would not have been successful if it had not gone viral. and made a case of international impact.

Despite the fact that the young woman managed to leave that country and avoid being forced to marry her attacker, she pointed out that justice was never done in her case.
Now, a Mexican has committed the crime of bringing a bottle of alcohol into Qatar and uploading it to social networks. At first, the countrymen saw him as a hero, however, now he must answer before the law.
Mexican who hid alcohol in Qatar will receive 30 lashes
“This is how we Mexicans arrived in Qatar,” said the fans of the protagonist of the video, once his case went viral. However, the exposure on social media has gotten him into big trouble. For Agustín Jaramillo, the joke has cost him dearly, and now he has been sentenced to 30 lashes in a public square in Qatar, after being arrested by the authorities.
This became known as a result of a publication by who is supposedly his brother, known on Twitter as Memo Jappan, where he sought to approach Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard, declaring the following:
Mr. @m_ebrard, my brother Agustín Jaramillo traveled to Qatar for the World Cup. The authorities of that country keep him incommunicado and the last thing we know is that he will receive 30 lashes in a public square in Doha. We beg for his intervention.
This was his shared tweet:

Until now, there has not been a resolution to his case either, however, Mexican authorities must respond to this request in the next few days.
Update:
Despite the fact that this initially caused a stir, it was the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that was in charge of denying the case. Issuing the following statement:
“Regarding the alleged arrest of a Mexican person for bringing a bottle of alcohol into Qatar, the corresponding authorities tell us that they have not made any arrests,” the Foreign Ministry explained.
The account holder himself did not deny the facts, but shared a series of tweets where he asked to take things with humor.
Since it sucks to continue with the same thing but they screw their mother hahahahahahahaha: “they inform me from Qatar”. https://t.co/dCgJfhQtH4

However, it began to receive a series of criticisms from users, who commented that this type of “jokes left Mexicans in a bad light.
