- The da Vinci Xi robot offers broader anatomical access with greater ease of use.
- It allows complex interventions to be carried out using a minimally invasive approach that provides patients with benefits in urological, thoracic, hernioplasty, fundoplication, nephrectomy, gynecological, pediatric and oncological surgeries.
- To date there are only a little more than two dozen hospitals in Mexico with this equipment.
The ABC Medical Center announced the acquisition of a new Da Vinci Xi robotavailable to the medical community of its Observatory and Santa Fe Campuses. With this, it seeks to offer a technological option for patients who require a minimally invasive surgical intervention.
“The acquisition and incorporation of this robot to the Robotic Surgery Center as of August 29, reflects the constant commitment that the institution has to stay updated in the latest generation processes and tools for medical practice,” said Alfredo Acosta, vice president of operations.
Technological innovation in the medical field
For his part, Dr. Óscar Decanini Terán, director of the Surgery Service Line at ABC, stated that “this type of surgery allows for more precise surgical interventions while maintaining a three-dimensional view of the surgical field and the maneuvers at all times. carried out”.
In this way, the surgeon has greater safety in the surgical technique, which translates into a less invasive intervention for the patient, because the incisions are smaller, the bleeding is minimal, the postoperative recovery is faster and the hospitalization time is shorter. brief”.
The da Vinci robotic system used in the operating room lacks independent movements or pre-programmed actions. It is rather a computer-assisted surgery system, which is activated and controlled by the surgeon, so the robot does not replace him, but rather constitutes a tool that assists him.
What does the equipment work for?
The da Vinci Xi robot It is used in various fields of surgery. One of the main ones is urology, with robotic prostatectomy procedures, the standard treatment today. Also in kidney, nephrectomies (partial or total), pyeloplasties and cystectomies. It is also used in general surgery such as colon cancer and gynecological surgery.
For his part, Dr. Juvenal Franco, medical vice president, points out the importance for the ABC Medical Center of providing highly specialized medical-surgical services with the highest safety and quality standards compared to international centers of excellence.
“The use of the surgical robot is strictly supervised by the Robotic Surgery Committee, which monitors compliance with the optimal training of the personnel involved in its management, the indications for use in certain procedures, its execution and the results obtained by the different surgeons.
The most important thing is to continue providing patients and their families with the best medical care in the country, and we do that by taking care of them, ensuring that they return to their daily lives in the shortest time possible and with fewer hospital stays and, consequently, achieving greater satisfaction.
