- The Urological Brigades project emerged in 2019 and consists of offering scholarships to health workers in Oaxaca.

Life offers multiple opportunities that should be taken advantage of, especially when they are related to professional development. Preparation not only allows access to better jobs but also has a direct impact on self-esteem. Such is the case of a Mexican doctor and nurse who managed to obtain an important international scholarship.
Promote the preparation of medical personnel
In this case, Iberdrola México, in alliance with the Miguel Litton Foundation and the Spanish Association of Urology, announced the winners of the third edition of Urological Brigades. Its about doctor Ashmar Gómez Conzatti and nurse Eber Leticia Salazar Cruzboth originally from the state of Oaxaca.
After a rigorous selection process, the scholarship holders will specialize for a month in hospitals in Spain. The objective is to improve their knowledge for the treatment of disorders of the urinary tract and pelvic floor, as well as different surgical techniques.
“Having more professionals specialized in surgical care for kidney patients strengthens the Oaxacan health system. Providing the best care is an unshakeable commitment for our Administration”, added Erick Azamar Cruz, advisor to the Oaxaca Ministry of Health, during the official award ceremony for the scholarship, held at the Oaxaca Regional High Specialty Hospital (HRAEO). .
The director of the Renewables Business of Iberdrola Mexico, Luis Estrada, highlighted that “the company is committed to the development and care of the communities where it has a presence with programs such as Urological Brigades, which allows us to promote local talent and at the same time attend to health low-income people, especially women.
“Obtaining this scholarship has been a great opportunity for me to develop my professional career. I am proud to think that all the knowledge I acquire will allow me to offer a better service to patients,” said Salazar Cruz, an HRAEO worker.
His colleague on fellowship and work at the medical center, Dr. Gómez Conzatti, highlighted the value of this training.
“The opportunity to travel to Spain to specialize in the hands of highly qualified personnel will allow me to have a greater vision and acquire new skills. I hope to put all my learning for the benefit of patients”.
What does the scholarship consist off?
The scholarships are aimed at health professionals who work in the public sector and cover transportation, accommodation and food expenses for this training in Spain. The trip is planned to take place at the end of 2022 in two hospitals accredited by the Spanish Association of Urology.
The program Urological Brigades aims to contribute to the well-being of low-income people in Oaxaca, especially women who suffer from complex urological problems.
This project, which also counts as an ally with the Secretary of Health Services of Oaxaca and the HRAEO. It started at the end of 2019 and contemplates an investment until 2024 of more than six million pesos.
“The hinge that we have created together with the Ministry of Health and Iberdrola México is for the benefit of all our patients. We are proud that, in this edition, two of our most renowned specialists will also participate in them”, explained Alba Vásquez Palacios, general director of the HRAEO.
In the first two editions, more than a hundred patients have been treated and in December 2022 the third day of Urological Brigades to treat more than 55 people.
