Some Twitter and TikTok users have warned about how cyber attackers operate on MetaMask to obtain your data.
The issue of NFTs does not stop, although this time the controversy has nothing to do with their particularity of incorruptible elements.
MetaMask is a portal where you can create your wallet or digital wallet. With it you can enter the metaverse.
Some users of different social networks have given their testimony about how cyber attackers operateusing the domain of MetaMask, to steal your data and carry out scams. Some of the testimonies comment that even they have been victims of this modus operandi.
MetaMask is a portal that has gained popularity little by little, because it is one of the platforms that allows you to create a Wallet or digital portfolio. In fact, according to Consensys, the platform has gone from having 545 thousand 080 monthly active users in July 2020 to 10 billion 354 thousand 279 in August 2021which translates into a growth of more than 1,800 percent in just one year.
This has undoubtedly gained great popularity because, with its support, it is possible to enter the Decentraland metaverse and many others. Already in the metaverse it is possible to invest in NFTs and manage to do profitable business that justify the entrance to that world of virtual reality.
However, there have been many controversies around these assets almost from the beginning, as several specialists mention that they are scams based on pyramid schemes. What’s more, Many others claim that NFTs, although they have a unique blockchain technology that supposedly makes them original elements, are easily replicable., so it is not impossible to clone them without knowing which one was the original. A new one has been added to these controversies: the theft of information through your MetaMask account.
MetaMask users warn of cyber attacker scams
In the videos and images, they explain how these cyber attackers steal your data through email messages. This theft strategy is known as “phishing”, and consists of claiming a domain of a company, brand or platform with the aim of obtaining as much information as possible from users and generating illegal transactions in their name.. The irony of this is that as mentioned, MetaMask at no time asks for your data or your emailso it should be impossible for it to know what your email account is if it is not strictly linked to the digital wallet.
These are the videos that explain how phishing heists are executed:

On Twitter, a user also denounced as a result of seeing these videos, how through harassment by WhatsApp messages, a user who pretends to be MetaMask begins to send him messages with the aim of obtaining his data:
