meta keeps delving On the subject of Artificial Intelligence, looking to lessen his failed attempts in the Metaverse. Recently, Mark Zuckerberg’s company launched Sam, an AI model that is capable of identifying specific objects such as images and videos.
SAM is the acronym for Segment Anything Model, o Anything Segmentation Model. It allows users to differentiate objects with a simple click, or by interactively selecting points to include or exclude from an object.
More or less the work that we could do with Photoshop at the time of remove characters from certain images, but now identifying them automatically and in a matter of seconds, thanks to Artificial Intelligence.
Examples of segmentation with Artificial Intelligence
Segmentation is the process of identifying which image pixels belong to an object. As well explained by Meta on his blog, is a central task in artificial vision, using it in areas such as scientific image analysis and photo editing.
However, Mark Zuckerberg’s company points out: “It generally requires highly specialized work by technical experts with access to the AI training infrastructure and large volumes of carefully annotated domain data.
Meta’s goal with SAM is “democratize segmentation”, make it a task that anyone can perform without the need for a huge mastery of the subject.
So you can try SAM, the new program from Mark Zuckerberg’s company
Together with SAM, Meta presented its mask dataset Segment Anything 1-Billion (SA-1B). is defined as the largest segmentation dataset to date, allowing a wide variety of applications, in order to “encourage further research on basic models for computer vision.”
According to Mark Zuckerberg’s company, in the future SAM could identify a farmer’s cows automatically, or assist biologists in their research.
goal allows, with this link, run a demo with SAM, and with this other link be able to download it.
