The Mexican Center for Philanthropy (Cemefi) and Mercado Libre signed an agreement to make available to the more than 1,350 civil society organizations (CSOs) that make up the Cemefi Community the solutions of the Mercado Libre ecosystem, with the aim of promoting fundraising through the sale of their products and attract donations, and thus achieve their mission.
The agreement includes the creation of an official store of the Cemefi Community in which the organizations that are part of it, and who wish to be part of the initiative, will be able to sell their products with a cause within the marketplace Mercado Libre and send them to all of Mexico. The sales they make in this channel will have a 0% commission.
At Mercado Libre, our commitment to society is essential, which is why working together with Cemefi will allow us to continue on the path of commercial inclusion by supporting various causes through our sales infrastructure, logistics, and payment gateway in a way that allows them to grow your collection and impact more people who need your daily work. We are excited that Cemefi has chosen Mercado Libre to have the official store of products with a cause of the Cemefi Community
Adriana Prieto Gaspar de Alba, Sustainability Manager for Mercado Libre México
For his part, Ricardo Bucio Mújica, executive president of Cemefi, commented that the association is in a state of expansion of many processes; among them, the programs to strengthen civil society organizations (CSOs) that make up the collaborative community, and that it is in this search to build bridges with large platforms that the organization finds a strategic ally in Mercado Libre.
He explained that several CSOs work on a very small scale and access to information technology is absolutely relevant and necessary. And that is where the agreement between Mercado Libre and Cemefi will offer opportunities to organizations, both to receive donations through their platform and to sell their products with a cause.
How can they receive donations?
Organizations that do not offer products for sale may receive donations through Mercado Pago. Will they have to pay commissions? No, in fact, these will be rewarded and processing will only be charged for the cards that will be charged.
Likewise, CSOs that wish to sell through Mercado Libre or raise resources with Mercado Pago will receive online training on how to upload products to the marketplace, increase their sales, be star sellers or how to use payment solutions to attract donations.
What are the requirements to participate?
From the signing of this agreement, all CSOs that are part of the Cemefi Community may join this initiative, either through the sale of products with a cause or fundraising.
The only requirement is that they are authorized donees and have been in operation for at least six months.
