Now, even those who pass the exam and complete the residency must be aware that their preparation must continue for life. For context, it all started in the 1960s when the first Council of Specialist Physicians. It works to verify the capabilities of all doctors and also promote continuous improvement. Since then it has expanded to reach 47 councils that regulate the main medical areas.
For its part, in 2011 the Regulatory Committee of Medical Specialty Councils (Conacem) and since then it is the body that is in charge of evaluating the capacities of specialists from all over the country.
With this in mind, after concluding the specialty, the medical certifications. Broadly speaking, it is a process of updating knowledge and it is carried out every five years. The objective is to identify the doctors who have the theoretical knowledge and practical criteria to practice the specialty.
Alternatives to obtain medical certifications
There are two options to obtain the document that accredits the specialist. The first is to accumulate points by attending Medical Congresses, seminars, workshops and official events. While the second is to present and pass the exam written by Conacem.
