Last week, and when more and more brands decided to suspend their activities in Russia in repudiation of the invasion of Ukraine, McDonalds joined the measure.
He did it by announcing the temporary closure of its 850 points of sale throughout the country of Vladimir Putin.
The reaction of consumers was, in many cases, to go buy their “last big mac”, which is why long lines were formed in the restaurants of the big cities.
There were even cases of massive purchases of menus to freeze them and make stock and cases of resale at prices exponentially higher than the official ones.
However, the reaction of McDonalds employees, who will be out of work for the months that the closure remains, had not been seen until now.
Although McDonalds of Russia said that it was going to keep paying salary the truth is that it could be thought that the workers would be emotionally beaten.
According to the images that were broadcast by the Eastern European news outlet NextaTV, this has not been the case.
In several videos, workers at a McDonald’s in St. Petersburg can be seen singing and dancing in their last minutes in the kitchens and at the customer service points.

McDonalds suspends operations in Russia
“The conflict in Ukraine and the real humanitarian crisis that is taking place causes unspeakable suffering to innocent people.” In this way began the message that McDonalds spread arguing the closure of its premises in Russia.
It bore the signature of Chris Kempczinski, president and CEO of McDonald’s.
“We have decided to join the world in condemning aggression and violence and praying for peace,” it added.
McDonald’s said the company was “temporarily” closing its 850 outlets in Vladimir Putin’s country as a “response to the invasion of Ukraine.”
The fast food restaurant action was not isolated. Before, brands such as Apple, the Ikea furniture chain and the multinationals H&M, Mango, Adidas and Nike, among dozens of others, had decided to leave Russia or suspend their businesses.
