The celebration of International Mathematics Day takes place on March 14 of each year since 2019.
In many countries, March 14 is already celebrated as Pi Day.
Without mathematics today we would not have the great advances in science and technology that humanity has.
To celebrate International Mathematics Day in 2022, the condom company Durex in Greece carried out a campaign that makes it clear to us that sexuality and mathematics get along very well with one of its basic concepts.
According to the UNESCOInternational Mathematics Day invites us to celebrate the joy of mathematics along with the wide selection of vocations that it makes available to girls and boys through various festive activities around the world.
This day aims to create greater global awareness and strengthen the teaching of mathematical sciences that are essential to face challenges that arise in areas such as artificial intelligence, climate change, energy and sustainable development.
The Durex campaign is about an image that exemplifies how the so-called rule of three works in mathematics in a unique and fun way in people’s sexuality.
The company developed this idea from the proverb “there is strength in numbers” to which they only added that there is also pleasure in numbers. Within the image of the campaign we can see that there are 4 groups of 3 people with different sexual preferences.
This also alludes to the fact that it does not matter with whom we enjoy this moment, but that you enjoy it.
