The discussion in the social networks of Argentina these days goes through the image of a teacher of a secondary school in the city of Rosario (the same one in which Lionel Messi was born) in which a teacher can be seen giving classes with a cat perched on his shoulder.
That’s right, the teacher (Brian) teaches the class with the pet, named Snarf, on his shoulder with the idea of ”raising awareness about respecting animals”.
Snarf is one of two cats that the school (and its students) adopted after the animals spent most of their time on the school grounds. They are now cared for by the entire school community.
According to the teacher, it is common for animals to enter the classrooms where he teaches his math classes.
The fact went viral after one of the students of the school, the Liceo Avellaneda de Rosario, recorded the scene of the math teacher with the cat sitting on one of his shoulders while he wrote on the blackboard.
The teacher told the Argentine media that the cats have their place to sleep at school, that they are vaccinated and that they take them to the vet. “Among all we feed them and above all we give them a lot of love,” he told TN.
The other cat is called “Tiger”. Both animals were baptized that way in homage to the series “Thundercats”.
The teacher also said that he does not have pets at home because he spends many hours working and they would be alone for too long. “The important thing is to make everyone aware of love and respect for animals,” he added.
The cats are already adapted to school life that they share with the 650 students of the establishment, who attend talks by specialists against animal abuse that are specially organized.
Brian said that cats also help to achieve “a good bond” with children to destigmatize the subject (mathematics) that most of them generate resistance.
“The boys filmed me and it didn’t bother me, I enjoy what I do, it’s my vocation and I can’t imagine myself outside the classroom,” he concluded.
