Likewise, many of the consumers decided to file a digital complaint with the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco).
Let us remember that in Mexico, Profeco is the entity that regulates this type of consumer crime. In accordance with the Federal Consumer Protection Law, which grants powers to the Profeco to “initiate a procedure for violations of the law on advertising, in accordance with articles 1, 6, 13, 24, sections I and XX, 32 and 123 of the law in question.”
It is not the first complaint of the Hot Sale that consumers report a brand to Profeco for misleading advertising, as an example we have a consumer exhibited at Sam’s Club for misleading this campaign season.
Or there is also the case of several consumers who denounced brands such as Walmart, Bodega Aurrerá, Soriana, Sears and Coppel for false promotions and also for canceling sales that had already been made due to a supposed lack of stock.
