The Maserati Grecale it is already a reality. The Modena brand has presented its new SUV with which it will compete in the prestigious D-segment dominated by the Germans, but with Porsche in the target, and especially the new Macan. A world debut that the Italian firm has also taken advantage of to present the new Maserati Grecale Folgore 2023. The first SUV, and the first electric.
An alternative that, like the thermal variants of the Grecale, has been designed for daily use, with typical Maserati performance and zero emissions. Aesthetically, the general features are shared, but it presents distinctive details such as the closing of the front grille that, together with the headlights, have a darker treatmentand newly designed air intakes in the bumper highlighted by gloss black decorative applications.
Elegant on the outside and sustainable on the inside
The same finish for the side gills and the edges of the side windows. The first Folgore sports specific badging on the front wings, with a special finish on the Trident emblem placed on the rear pillars or the model name on the rear. The alloy wheels are presented in a turbine style, very aerodynamic, and almost completely closed. In addition, one of the details by which it will also be recognizable is the new “Copper Rame Folgore” body paint that gives it a more elegant style.
Maserati has only revealed the exterior, but the interior will not present any major differences, retaining the four screens for the digital instrument panel, the center console and part of the transmission tunnel, with 12.3 and 8.8 inches, and the modern dashboard clock. The sustainability of the new Grecale Folgore will also be perceived in an interior that will not use leather, but a new eco-friendly material called “Econyl”a new type of recycled nylon obtained from nets recovered from the seas.
The manufacturer will also adapt the new “MIA” multimedia platform to electric propulsion, as well as the driving modes and the different configurations of the chassis control system. The first electric in the Folgore range will have a powerful 105 kWh batterywhich will provide a high autonomy with a single charge, very close to the 700 kilometers.
The Italians have thrown the house out the window equipping a 400 V charging system, so recharge times will be shorter. For now, Maserati has not specified more details of the on-board propulsion system, but they will be two electric motors those that provide high performance, with a maximum torque of 800 Nm.
