Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is almost here, and with their departure just around the corner from Square-Enix they are sharing more and more information to publicize the title. Today, the company explained how Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy changes the origin of the protagonist’s name, Peter Quill, better known as Star-Lord.
Throughout his time in Marvel comics, Peter has had different origins in terms of his title “Star-Lord.” In some of them, the title symbolizes an intergalactic police officer, while in others, it is granted to Peter by his father, this being a noble title. In the case of the movies, Quill takes his superhero name from an affectionate nickname his mother used to call him.

In the case of the new Square-Enix game, Quill gets this name more simply. Star-Lord is the name From a fictional music group from the 80s, which is Quill’s favorite. Eidos Montreal has produced an animated video clip of the song “Zero to Hero” by the fictional band, which you can browse through the video above.
