Do you remember when the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) was the greatest creation in the history of superhero movies and Thanos looked like the most terrifying and invincible villain?
The MCU today has been through some not-so-spectacular terrain, where, to be honest, the closing of Phase 3 was an epic and emotional moment.
But the reality is that Phase 4, made up largely of exclusive TV series for the Disney Plus streaming platform, has not been full of strong emotions, with very few exceptions, such as Spider-Man: No Way Home.
However, back in 2016 the picture was completely different. Age of Ultron had been released the year before, it was known that Cilvil War was coming and the threat of Thanos, the mad titan, was still there and getting closer.
Although there was still a relative uncertainty about the final design of the character. Since in each cameo where he appeared we saw him with completely different features and details from each other.
It was just in this period that a cosplay artist did one of the most impressive sessions around this villain.
The time lapse video of Kay Pike using body paint to become Thanos
At the beginning of the year 2016, Kay Pikeone of the most recognized cosplay and body paint artists of her time, made some noise with this viral video that has been somewhat buried over time.
In the time lapsewe saw how the cosplayer dedicated hours to a session she herself did where she ended up painting her body to become Thanos:
The video itself requires some patience, since by its nature the process of building the final result in a body painting session is extensive and very long.
It is not until the second half of the video that we see how Thanos begins to take shape and life with a design quite inspired by the original lines of the Infinity War and Infinity Gauntlet comic series.
And, although the video may not look as brutal and spectacular as it took to visualize the result, the photographs of the final session are unmissable:
At the time of the publication of this body paint video, there was still absolute uncertainty about the final design that Thanos would take.
So that situation helped raise speculation about what we would see at the end of Phase 3.
