Iron Man saved the universe by snapping Thanos’ gauntlet: this was the end of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) in Marvel. Avengers: Endgame broke more than one heart, including Jon Favreauperformer of “Happy” Hogan at UCM and director of two of the Iron Man movies.
Anthony Russo, one of the brothers who directed Avengers: Endgame, spoke with Vanity Fair, along with his brother Joe, remembering that Favreau was against Iron Man’s death.
“Part of the pressure (against) came from Jon Favreau,” Russo explained, while recounting the decision to sacrifice the character. “He called us after reading the script, and he said, ‘Are you really going to kill Iron Man?
“It’s like, can’t you do this, it’s going to devastate people. You don’t want them to walk out of the theater and into traffic.” Joe Russo added. “We did it anyway.”
Avengers: Endgame is one of the highest grossing movies in history. grossing $2.7 billion worldwide, surpassing Avengers: Infinity War.
Jon Favreau, one of the pillars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe… and that of Star Wars
Favreau has a very special bond with Robert Downey Jr., the actor who played Tony Stark. The New Yorker played “Happy” Hogan, bodyguard and friend of Stark, from the beginning of the saga. Perhaps something influenced his annoyance.
Favreau, in addition to directing two of the Iron Man movies, also produced Iron Man 2, The Avengers, Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Avengers: Infinity War. Currently, together with Dave Filoni, he has been in charge of giving an even greater enhancement to the Star Wars Universe, behind The Mandalorian.
The 2019 film Avengers: Endgame, which closes Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (death of Stark and Black Widow, retirement of Steve Rogers as Captain America, Hulk becomes Smart Hulk), can be seen today in DisneyPlus.
