Throughout history, comic strips and film productions of Marvel have shown that the relationship or alliance that make up Iron Man and Captain America as Avengers has been complicated, toxic and even led to deadly outcomes.
Certainly, when humanity has needed them united, Tony Stark and Steve Rogers have made a vital dumbbell, being great allies both as a duo and important weapons of the Avengers against great threats. PBut they have had differences that we have all regretted.
The best known of the problems that the characters had, as recalled by the website of Alpha Beta Playit was his disagreement at the time of signing the Superhuman Registration Act, which triggered what we know as Civil War.
Those differences have led Iron Man to have negative feelings for Cap, such as jealousy and envy. Tony himself has confessed it in a comic.
The envy that Iron Man feels for Captain America
In AX #3: Judgment DayIron Man explains that his envy of Rogers stems from the fact that, as Tony Stark searches for the most difficult scientific solutionswhich have led him to receive the hatred of many, Cap just gives inspirational speeches.
For Iron Man, Captain America is recognized by the world as a moral leader, which gives him all the praise. And that happens while he makes more complicated decisions, and interestingly, while exposing his jealousy, is facing a Celestial.
Perhaps Tony is being unfair to Steve, especially since Captain America has also risked his life many times before to save his fellow Avengers and the planet. Jealousy and envy are probably a product of Iron Man’s ego needing more recognition than the one Cap receives.
