Despite the announcement of the DLC, some insist that the new title is in development.
Despite the fact that many thought that Mario Kart 9 was already on the way, the last Nintendo Direct in February made it clear that there was still to see a new installmentgiven that the announcement of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Expansion Pass, which will add 48 tracks remastered from previous titlestogether with the confirmation that it will last until the end of 2023, makes it clear that we will have to wait until 2024 at least to see a new title in the saga.
Having said all this, it must be said that there are insiders who do not cease in their efforts to say that Mario Kart X is in developmenteven though the latest news that comes to us from Zippo suggests not only this fact, but also that the title would be a reboot gentle of the license.
Mario Kart X would choose to be a Nintendo crossover
Under this premise, it must be said that, as had been speculated, for Nintendo, Mario Kart: Home Circuit is internally seen as the ninth installmentwhich would lead to the next great title being the tenth (not counting Mario Kart Tour for smartphones here).
In this way, new information comes to us from Zippo, who affirms that the title It would be called Mario Kart Xsymbolizing the X not only the number 10 in Roman, but also because it would mean a crossover between various Nintendo licenses.
This is something that has been speculated on for a long time, thus stating that Mario Kart would become like Super Smash Broscounting not only on Mario characters and circuits on its campus, but also other Nintendo sagas would be added.
It has to be said that this would not be completely new, since Mario Kart 8 itself added Link, Villager, Cinnamon and the Inklings as playable characters, as well as circuits (in race and battles) based on The Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing and Splatoon. Therefore, extending to other Nintendo licenses would be the logical step.
In any case, as a result of this Zippo says there will be no remastered circuits, since Nintendo would focus on creating new ones based on other licenses. In this sense, the fact that almost all the already known circuits will be present in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC would fit.
On the other hand, Zippo claims that the game would take four years in developmenteven though Nintendo would be waiting for the successor to the Nintendo Switch to arrive to launch it.
Having said all this, it must be said that, far from being right, Zippo fails more than a fairground shotgun, since it has been saying that Mario Kart 9 will be released at the end of the year for several years. In fact, we are still waiting for that Donkey Kong that was going to come out on Christmas 2021 to be released.
