He was nothing away from NOT being Goku
Years ago Mario Castañeda said that he refused to be Goku. The actor had fallen out with the previous dubbing director, Gloria Rocha, and for this reason he did not want to work in the anime. However, she herself insisted on playing the role for which he shines today.
“One day we yelled at each other. She was on a ladder and I was under that ladder and we yelled at each other until we got tired. When she told me, I want you to do Goku, I thought ‘Oh, Gloria, cuteness. In other words, you fight with me and you want me to record your cartoon’ and then I told him no”, Castañeda told Spaghetti Code.
Later, “that afternoon while we ate watching dragon ball my son found out that Goku had been offered to me and that I had said no because he was worthy, he stopped eating, stood up from the table and jumped up and down, knelt on the ground so that he would please accept Goku. So I went to glory to accept the character, ”he expressed.
