It was during the trip back to Spain that the one from Cervera began to experience discomfort in his vision. Upon his arrival in Barcelona, he went urgently to the Hospital Clinic where Dr. Sánchez Dalmau, an ophthalmologist he trusted, confirmed the new episode of diplopia (double vision). Although these problems do not seem to be as serious as those already experienced by the eight-time world champion last winter, his return to competition is unknown and it will depend on the evolution of the injury that is observed in future medical check-ups.
This is how he explained it Dr. Sanchez Dalmau: «The neuro-ophthalmological evaluation carried out this Monday on Marc Márquez after the head injury that occurred at the Indonesian Grand Prix, shows a new episode of diplopia caused by a right fourth nerve palsy relapse, with less damage than that suffered in the injury in November 2021. After this examination, it was decided to follow a conservative treatment with regular medical check-ups. Next week, Márquez will undergo a new review to assess the evolution of the injury and predict the estimated recovery time to return to competition.
The Honda rider visited the Ruber Internacional Hospital in Madrid on Tuesday where his medical team, led by Dr. Samuel Antuña, has once again certified that does not suffer any other injury. One of the few good news that #93 has received, which will presumably be away from the tracks again. The bad streak that he has been dragging since the 2020 season does not seem to end, a campaign that was lost almost entirely due to a shoulder injury.
