Football player Diego Maradona has been removed from FIFA 22 when two years have not passed since the sudden death of the Argentine icon. The player appeared in-game in his Ultimate Team section, where he had up to four FUT Icon cards at various stages of his career. As a player legend, Maradona was one of the highest rated players in the game, boasting a card rated 98 out of 99. Only Pele tops him with a 99 rating, while only Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski match him at 98 each. on their respective team of the year cards
Maradona’s withdrawal from FIFA 22 is due to a legal dispute with a third party. In fact, it has been EA Sports that has been forced to remove the Argentine from the game, explaining to the newspaper Mirror what “Due to a third party legal dispute, we must suspend Diego Maradona from appearing in FIFA Ultimate Team Packs, future FUT content, and Soccer Aid World XI in EA SPORTS FIFA 22“.
“As such, Diego Maradona ICON items will no longer be available in packs, SBCs, and FUT Drafts. We have always included the likeness and likeness of Maradona under valid license agreements, first with Mr. Maradona himself and then with the authorized company to license Maradona products with image rights worldwide“, explains the company to the newspaper.
Of course, it is quite a shame that due to a legal dispute it has ended with the disappearance of one of the most remembered footballers eliminated from the most well-known football simulator by all. The hope of the players is now that EA Sports and the company authorized to license the image of the deceased footballer reach an agreement again for Mardona to reappear in FIFA 22 or later games.
