Believe it or not, occupational diseases also occur in the work environment. The work environment can cause you some illnesses that you thought had nothing to do with it but that are actually more common than you think in Mexican offices. Below we detail them.
Bad posture
It is one of the most common diseases in Mexican offices. Bad posture is common if you are at your desk in front of the computer. Continually maintaining poor posture can have moderate to severe problems such as tendinitis, back pain and non-severe contractures.
Stress, one of the most common occupational diseases
Stress in our lives is the main cause of many things and it is no longer a disease but our lifestyle derives the accumulation of stress that we deserve. Stress also generates other types of discomfort such as headaches, irritability, migraines and fatigue.
To avoid or fight stress, it is advisable to exercise, maintain a healthy eating life and try to leave work outside the home, out of your love life and be able to separate your family or private life from your love life.
mobbing
It is not a disease in itself but an origin of why we can have all kinds of symptoms. The psychological harassment of a boss who exerts on his employee is rather related to systematic abuse, with demands outside of any rule and aggression that can emotionally affect the other person.
The effects of mobbing can be long lasting and take time to dissipate, as they affect and damage the person’s self-esteem, limiting their ability to do their job and daily life well.
physical and mental exhaustion
It is the famous “burn out” or “professional and mental exhaustion syndrome” and it is a condition where the symptoms are as defined by its definition: general fatigue and emotional exhaustion that leads to loss of self-esteem at work and, therefore, decreased productivity in the office. Generally, this syndrome is related to jobs where the shifts are more than 12 hours and also goes hand in hand with stress.
eye discomfort
Being glued to a screen for 6 hours working without resting your eyes can cause problems with your eyes. These problems can be chronic pathologies and this could worsen if you already have a vision problem such as astigmatism or myopia. That is why it is suggested to use a screen saver and, from time to time, avert your gaze or go outside for some fresh air to rest your eyes.
Addiction to work, the worst of occupational diseases
It is, without a doubt, the worst disease that occurs in the offices of Mexico and it consists of nothing other than making us addicted to our work. If you dedicate more than 12 hours a day of your life to work, you are considered an addict. This addiction and disease has risks from social ones such as losing a partner, friends, social life and even physical problems such as emotional exhaustion, stress, bad mood, poor diet and lack of sleep.
