Mexican singer Luis Miguel will donate 10 million pesos to help in the reconstruction work due to the extensive damage left by Hurricane Otis in Acapulco Bay.
This donation will be made through the Banorte Foundation, which in turn will double the amount, so in total there will be 20 million pesos for the victims of Acapulco.
This was confirmed by the general director of Banorte, Marcos Martínez, in a message on his X profile (formerly Twitter).
“Thank you very much, @LMXLM (Luis Miguel) for your donation of 10 million pesos to Fundación Banorte for the reconstruction and housing equipment of the affected community in Acapulco. Fundación Banorte will double it to reach 20 million pesos,” the manager said in a message.
Luis Miguel, a frequent visitor to Acapulco, is in the middle of his 2023 tourin which he has several dates throughout the United States, Latin America and his concerts are ‘sold out’ in Mexico.
According to the dates of his tour, he will close the year precisely in Acapulco and the Riviera Maya.
Hurricane Otis, which hit the port of Acapulco at the end of October, damaged the entire infrastructure of the industry of this tourist destination. The federal government announced an aid package for the victims for 61,313 million pesos (3,400 million dollars). However, there are estimates that up to $10 billion will be needed in reconstruction alone.
AMLO promises reactivation of tourism in Acapulco in December
The Mexican president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, expressed this Wednesday in a meeting with hoteliers that he will seek to return tourism to Acapulco in December after the passage of Hurricane Otis, which left 48 dead and more than 300 hotels destroyed in the port, one of the main destinations of the country.
“That activity began again in December, on December 24, that Acapulqueños returned to normal, was a very painful situation, very strong for many.“said the president in his morning press conference.
The Mexican president announced that he will talk this Wednesday at the National Palace with hotel owners in Acapulco, such as magnate Carlos Slim, businessman Juan Antonio Hernández and representatives of Grupo Vidanta and Mundo Imperial.
