Searching for a suitable opponent to kill Thor for, Loki appointed the only Avenger capable of this task.
Thor, son of Odin, is only one of the most powerful Avengers in the Marvel Universe. This Asgardian God has tremendous strength, great combat skills and a weapon capable of condensing and channeling the power of thunder. Loki, his adoptive brother, also knows this, so he is smart enough smart to accept that you won’t be able to beat him in battle. So he must choose to find a fighter who is capable of defeating his brother.
when Loki was looking for a fighter who was strong enough to kill Thor, in the Marvel comics, he deduced that there was another Avenger who could match his strength and could even beat him. This is not about the Hulk, who on other occasions has shown to be possessed of a strength quite similar to that of the God of Thunder. Although there are obviously other beings stronger than this.
Who is the Avenger strong enough to kill Thor?
in the comic Silver Surfer #4created by Stan Lee and John BuscemaLoki wondered who he might be trying to trick into killing Thor on his behalf. This one took its time naming different heroes that came to mind and that they have the strength to do so.
In the beginning, Loki thought of the Hulk, who, as we already know, has previously fought against the God of Thunder.. However, he was quickly written off as he does not possess combat skills that would allow him to kill Thor. After sets his sights on The Thing, the member of the Fantastic Four, which is also an excellent candidate. But in the end, he is also discarded since he is a human and it is not possible for them to eliminate a God.
Loki exclaims that he would love to be able to trick and use Hercules, the demigod, so that he would assassinate Thor for him, since he has the necessary strength for that, as well as a lot of experience and combat skills. In this way, it could be said that this is the only Avenger capable of killing the God of Thunder.
However, Loki decides not to use it, since trying to deceive the son of Zeus could unleash the wrath of this God and the rest of Olympus, something that would certainly be his end. But leaving this aside, the God of Deception recognize the great strength of the demigod and considers that he is able to eliminate his brother without much trouble.
A bit of the history of Hercules and Thor
Previously, Hercules has met Thor in battle, the result of which was victory for the demigod. We can see this in the comic. Thor #126. So, indeed, Loki was right in considering the son of Zeus to be the best for the task.
Hercules is the son of Zeus with a human woman, so he is a demigod. He possesses superhuman strength that rivals that of the Gods, but also great combat intelligence, which has allowed him to win countless battles in the past.
All these features they allowed him to face and win against the God of Thunder in a combat. But, if we analyze well the events that occurred in later comics, the Hulk, in the end, showed Loki that he had been wrong in not considering him for the job.
The Hulk has proven to be much more than just muscles.
At comic Master’s #4written by Peter David and German Peraltawe find ourselves in a bleak future for the Marvel Universe, in which only the strong can stay alive.
In this timeline, Hercules must face the Hulk in a one on one to, once and for all, show who is the strongest. Here it became clear that the demigod is more powerful than Bruce Banner in his green beast form, but also that the Hulk is much more cunning than he appears.
Hulk, seeing himself at a disadvantage and about to be defeated, uses a villain known as Vapor to poison Hercules and thus be able to kill him with this toxic vapor. This showed us that, more than being a creature of brute force, it is also capable of solving difficulties against beings that are notoriously superior in strength.
With this it is clear to us that the Hulk, contrary to what Loki thought at the time, he is capable of defeating Thor, using any strategy to achieve his goal. However, this does not mean that the God of Mischief has named and recognized Hercules as the only Avenger capable of killing the Gods.
