LinkedIn is testing a new feature to boost its content creators, which is about running paid events.
It seems strange that LinkedIn, a platform that is used more to create employment networks and that, in that sense, can become a great recruiter of talent, is now joining the trend of content creators.
Let’s be honest: in recent years, the trend in social networks is content creators, also called influencers, although there is an important difference between these two.
Be that as it may, the truth is that content creators are gaining more and more ground and are positioning themselves as strategic points for brands that, also, turn much more to the virtual window.
As we have seen in these times of pandemic, platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, among others, are now important commercial showcases that work to publicize products and / or services more first-hand, since the relationship between the creator and his audience is much closer than is generally believed.
Now, it turns out that LinkedIn does not want to be left out of the game and, despite not being one of the most famous sites for such purposes, it does have attractive potential, which is why it has been developing new forms or functions for its creators of content have a better experience by being able to monetize their ideas.
Within the series of initiatives that LinkedIn is creating, a new one is added that consists of the development of events that can only be accessed through a ticket, which will have a monetary cost. In other words, users will have to pay to enter the event.
“Amid the changing world of work and the transition to an almost totally remote workforce, LinkedIn Events has seen a surge in growth, with 21 million people attending an event on LinkedIn in 2020. We continue to learn from the feedback. of members and customers and we try new ways to improve the experience. As part of this, we are exploring payment options in the Events product based on feedback from event organizers, ”said Nicole Leverich, a LinkedIn spokeswoman.
Although it might surprise more than one that LinkedIn is joining this trend, the truth is that it seems a natural step. In fact, I had already worked on it since 2019, but now it seems that things are serious.
LinkedIn is looking for those creators who use the platform for conferences or other types of events to charge for access to them, a fact that speaks of how social networks are increasingly becoming spaces for business.
It is not the only one, because Twitter and others such as Clubhouse also have their strategy of paid events, where interested users pay a ticket to access them, and the trend of content creators has not stopped and, in fact, It will continue to grow as social networks continue to sophisticate their functions.
LinkedIn seems to be unable to compete with sites like TikTok, YouTube, Twitch, Instagram or others, as its platform offers different services. So we’ll see how this new strategy works for you.
