Lightyear, the new Pixar movie, has hit theaters around the world. Well, not in the whole world. Recently, it was revealed that this tape was banned from 14 countries in the Middle East and Asiadue to the inclusion of a kiss between two characters of the same sex.
It was long ago revealed that Lightyear, a film that tells the story of the fictional character that inspired the creation of the Buzz toy that we see in Toy Story, was going to include a lesbian kiss. Originally, this section was cut from the tape. Nevertheless, Disney and Pixar included it again after a campaign not only by fans, but also by workers in these companies.. Now, it is this very scene that has caused the film to be banned in multiple countries.
The United Arab Emirates mentioned that this film would be blocked due to:
“Violation of the country’s media content standards.”
For its part, Indonesia did not veto Lightyearbut he did mention that:
“It suggests to the owner of the film to think about the audience in Indonesia, where an LGBT kiss scene is still sensitive.”
For its part, Disney hasn’t mentioned if it plans to remove this scene for the release. Lightyear in this countries, or if you leave it as is. Similarly, the position of China is currently unknown, a country where we have also seen this type of action, but where the mouse company is willing to cut sections with the aim of launching a product in this nation.
Speaking of movies, new details about the Gran Turismo movie have been shared. Similarly, this is the first Matilda trailer for Netflix.
Editor’s note:
It is a pity that these types of actions continue to occur in different parts of the world. Along with this, it seems that Disney is in a difficult position, since in a normal situation, they would surely have changed the film to reach more theaters, but this time they already faced a controversy about it.
