We all remember how was the passage of the disconcerting closure of activities by LG with its division dedicated to the manufacture of smartphones. But there is a device that remained buried in limbo: the LG Rollable.
This, obviously, was the code name and not the definitive one of what would be the first flexible screen smartphone created by this brand in a market that was in its early stages at the time.
Since 2019 The rumor had been circulating that LG was going to present a gadget with these characteristics or perhaps folding. But it never happened, until CES 2021 that the company stole the spotlight with the first look at this new phone.
However, something that nobody saw coming is that a few months later, in April of that same year, the company would announce the definitive closure of its section dedicated to the manufacture of smartphones.
Thus leaving some projects like the LG Rollable in oblivion, as an anecdote of something that never happened. And that little by little his interest ended up being buried within the mobile community.
But now, it is just under this scenario that a new and unexpected video has emerged that revives the curiosity about this phone.
The LG Rollable resurfaces in a curious video
From the YouTube channel of 뻘짓연구소 or the Jeolit Research Institute, a curious video has emerged where we can finally take a deep and detailed look at the folding smartphone launched by LG.
This is not an account of the evolution and abortion of this project, nothing of the sort. We are, as it is, before a video of an unboxing, where the channel shows us what the apparently final product was like:
As you can see in the video we have a complete presentation of all the details of LG Rollable, including its packaging, box, packaging, and the smartphone itself.
Everything that can be seen here suggests that the smartphone was ready to go to market and its production was advanced enough to have units finished and packaged.
The first part of this video is relatively irrelevant. But from the third minute the interesting thing begins when seeing in action a device with a screen that unwinds and that could well have been a competitor of weight.
At least this video remains as a testimony of what could have happened.
