Believe it or not, children don’t need that many things to be happy. Your time is money for them!
Many times we believe that the best way to show our love to the little ones is through gifts. But according to studies, this generates frustrated children, with little imagination, comfortable and who in adulthood do not strive to have what they want. The so-called? Hyper-gifted child syndrome? it is a problem for future generations.
The publicity and guilt of many parents for having to work all day, are the perfect mix for children to ask and as always, excesses are never good!
To verify this, the Ikea company carried out an advertising campaign where children could write a letter to the Three Kings to ask for gifts. The children had to answer: What would you ask your parents for these holidays? And in most cases, the answer was? Spend more time with me? and not the latest and newest toy.
The consequences of this are negative attitudes such as whims, consumerism, selfishness, lack of imagination and illusion and not being interested in anything in particular. Also, depression when they don’t get what they ask for.
