The United States Department of Defense he is no stranger to using artificial intelligence to his advantage. A report of infobaebased on a publication by The Washington Postindicates that they are developing a military base that will be guarded by robot dogs and mechanisms executed by machine learning.
It is, in reality, the reconstruction of a base called Tyndall, located in the state of Florida, which suffered the ravages of a hurricane in 2018. Now, the US military is integrating as much artificial intelligence as possible into the new facilities.
The first, and simplest, is that this base will have robot dog patrols, like the ones being developed at Boston Dynamics. They are not completely autonomous, but they do replace human components that normally guard military installations around the world.
The software and robots will be trained by artificial intelligence to detect unauthorized armed persons. They will also have the ability to reduce possible attackers in a matter of seconds.
The facilities will be monitored by a camera system that does not have to be watched by a soldier 24 hours a day. They will have installed a mechanism capable of issuing an alarm, developed by artificial intelligence.
“The system detects shotguns, rifles and other types of weapons,” said Sgt. Nicholas Murphy of the 325 Security Forces Squad. “The views of the system are 360° and an alarm is activated if necessary to send security forces to reach the scene as soon as possible,” Murphy told Airman Magazine.
Most impressive of all is that this same base incorporates a kind of “twin”, a digital version of the same facility that is accessed with VR glasses to train AIs to respond to different scenarios; Hurricane flooding is one of them.
