Q2: Alonso takes a step forward
The progressive improvement of the track, with the sun going down and even the threat of rain (with small drops of rain) meant that the fight for the top was with an extra guest in Q2: Fernando Alonso. The Asturian marked the 5th time of this round, but only two tenths of the time of Max Verstappen.
The best was Sergio Pérez, who beat a Carlos Sainz very strong and that showed that he was going to try to go for his first pole position in Formula 1. While they did not suffer anything, they did Stephen Ocon or the surprising Lewis Hamiltonalthough both crossed the cut.
Those eliminated were Pierre Gasly, Valtteri Bottas, Yuki Tsunoda, Guanyu Zhou and Mick Schumacher.
