Raul Orlandini and his co-pilot Pedro La Cruz, aboard their Mitsubishi EVO Inca Trails 2023leadered by Nicolas Fuchs. In this way, the ‘Mono’ aims to continue improving his times and thus get on the rally podium with the last two stages of the most dangerous rally in our region remaining.
The first place in Special 8 (Abancay and Cusco), which they completed in 01h12m35s, was what allowed them to place themselves in 5th place overall with a total time of 10h57m03s; remaining expectant in the absence of the fifth and sixth stages, which will be held this Saturday and Sunday, respectively, between Cusco-Puno and Puno-Arequipa. The Orlandini Racing Team worked last Friday on the repairs of its vehicle at the Tupa Amaru Technological Higher Education Institute in San Sebastián, to get it ready for the fifth stage, which will have a total of 510 kilometers, between links and timed specials. .
“It has been a beautiful stage. The first special we went calmly, testing the car, seeing how it went. In the second we pushed hard and we were able to climb four positions in the general classification. We are advancing. Let’s hope that both us driving and the vehicle respond correctly in these last stages, since the objective is to continue climbing all possible positions in this final stretch,” Indian Orlandini.
Now, this Saturday, during the fifth stage, which takes place between Cusco and Puno, the Orlandini Racing Team driver has to continue stepping on the accelerator of his Mitsubishi EVO X to achieve his final goal. The times that will be timed will be the special ones between Chuquicahuana and Aguas Calientes, which will have a total of 119 kilometers of route. Then it will be run between Purina and Sucasco, with 150 kilometers.
It should be noted that Raúl Orlandini Griswold is the third top winner in the history of Caminos del Inca. And he has been proclaimed champion four times and ahead of him he only has legends like his father, Raúl Orlandini Dibós, with five titles, and Henry Bradley, with seven trophies and the label of the most winning driver in the most important rally in the country. Today, ‘Mono’ is far from first place in the general classification, Nicolás Fuchs, but he is going for the miracle and trying to catch up with his father on that exclusive list.
