The new trailer for Netflix’s ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, 2022) finally shows us what we can expect from Leatherface’s return in just a couple of weeks, after a first teaser that showed little of the mythical murderer. While the new movie is a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper’s original classic, it looks a lot like Marcus Nispel’s version from 2003, complete with gory bloodbath and twisted-looking old leatherface.
The trailer shows us the original Leatherface almost 50 years later, already survivor Sally Hardesty, in Laurie Strode mode in ‘Halloween’ (2018), with a phrase that follows the fashion of the final girls of the third age with a desire for revenge: “I’ve been waiting 50 years for this night, just to see him againBut the film also introduces a new batch of victims, some of whom look like influencers who watch everything on mobile.
The full official synopsis of the new movie reads like this:
“After nearly 50 years in hiding, Leatherface returns to terrorize a group of idealistic young friends who accidentally disrupt their carefully guarded world in a remote Texas town. Melody (Sarah Yarkin), her teenage sister Lila (Elsie Fisher), and their friends Dante (Jacob Latimore) and Ruth (Nell Hudson) head to the remote town of Harlow, Texas to start an idealistic new business venture. But their dream soon turns into a nightmare when they accidentally break into the home of Leatherface, the deranged serial killer whose blood-soaked legacy continues to haunt the area’s residents, including Sally Hardesty (Olwen Fouéré), the sole survivor of his infamous murder. massacre of 1973, which is hell-bent on seeking revenge.
Actress Olwen Fouéré takes on the iconic role of Sally Hardesty from the late Marilyn Burns and Mark Burnham is old Leatherface. David Blue García has directed the film, written by Chris Thomas Devlin and produced by Fede Alvarez and Rodolfo Sayagues, along with Kim Henkel (co-writer of the 1974 film), Ian Henkel and Pat Cassidy, who produce through Exurbia Films. It premieres on the platform on February 18.
