One of the things that is causing great controversy within the Gaming Industry, are the graphics cards, and that is that we are nowhere near entering a new generation, well, if we have the availability and the budget to be able to have one, since their prices will be the highest.
Something we find quite curious is that, it can be tempting to go for a cheap current-gen graphics card as prices continue to drop, but performance seekers may want to wait a little longer for the RTX 4080 and RTX 4080 to launch. 4070 from Nvidia.
Just a few hours ago, Kopite7Kimi revealed that the full version of the AD104 chip, the same one currently expected to launch in the RTX 4070, could “easily match” the RTX 3090 Ti. This is not a feat. To achieve this, the company is increasing the power limits of the RTX 4070 by 100W to 400W to achieve these results, as well as arming the card with 12GB of ultra-fast GDDR6X memory.
Notorious leaker Kopite7Kimi has just revealed the performance results on Time Spy Extreme for the RTX 4070 and RTX 4080, and we were even surprised at how fast the next generation of graphics cards is shaping up to be. If these rumors hold up, then the RTX 4070 will be as fast as an RTX 3090, achieving a score of 10,000 on Time Spy Extreme.
This, of course, comes at a power cost, where the 4070 is currently designed to consume a staggering 300W of power to achieve these results.
However, judging by the early current benchmarks we’ve seen, it might be the best performance-per-watt card of the Lovelace generation we’ve seen so far.
The RTX 4080, on the other hand, manages to double the power of the RTX 3080, which means you can expect a 3DMark score of around 15,000. However, this also comes at the cost of power once again, meaning you can expect to draw 420W of power to push those kinds of numbers. We also saw earlier that the RTX 4090 is currently expected to score around 19,000 in the same test.
