In the “NFT Innovation and Infrastructure” panel discussion, Ashok Ranadive, Senior Program Manager at CasperLabs, Carlos Creus Moreira, Co-Founder of Wisekey, Jane Cui, Founder of Ernst Leitz Labs, and popular artist Dario De Siena discussed the current progress of the NFT space and the challenges ahead.
Speaking about the main challenges faced by NFT platforms, Wisekey’s Moreira explained that technological challenges, coupled with the increasing number of frauds, are the main concerns of NFT platforms. He also underscored the need to take things slow and first understand the prospects of technology before moving on to product development.
Jane Cui, speaking about the challenges facing the artist and the marketing aspect of NFTs, said that the artist community is very excited about the metaverse perspective, especially the digital photographer. However, the lack of understanding and operation of the technology often poses a challenge for these artists when it comes to monetizing it.
And he added: “There are risks and technological gaps, but seeing the companies at the WEF working to fill those gaps, I think there is hope for these artists.”
Non-fungible tokens (NFTs), the metaverse, and gaming were the key topics of discussion at the Davos Blockchain Hub. Seal Storage Technology CEO Alex Altman discussed the current downward trend of the NFT market, while explaining the bright side of it.

“What’s great about this is that it exposed tens of millions of people to NFTs, as well as the technology that got businesses and people used to using and interacting with it. Overall, hundreds of millions of dollars have also been invested if not billions, in the infrastructure and its development.
Speaking about the role of NFT custodians, Veritic co-founder Stephan Holzer said that they help spread mainstream adoption. He explained:
“I really think that custodians play a crucial role in mainstream adoption by making it simpler and more secure. This allowed us to bring 300 million people into the cryptocurrency space, and this also led to innovations like nfts.”

In a discussion of female role models, Meta VP joked that Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto, who remains anonymous to date, could very well be a woman. She explained:
“I’ll give you one: Satoshi Nakamoto, I mean we all assume he’s a man, right? Is that our prejudice? He is just a name, he might as well be a woman.”
Cornèr added that he believes that the creator of Bitcoin is a group of people made up of men and women rather than an individual.
Sandra Rao, CEO of GBBC on the future of women on the web3:
“I am very optimistic about the future of women. We are in an era of collaboration regardless of borders and countries. We need to support women entrepreneurs from all walks of life.”
