The world premiere of the new Volkswagen ID. Buzz is almost imminent. In little more than a month, the heir to the Bulli will be revealed, but first the fourth electric model of the German brand faces its great trial by fire: a long trip to Barcelona.
The new Volkswagen ID. Buzz is getting closer. The German firm is preparing the world debut, and commercial launch, of the fourth model in its range of electric cars, a presentation to take place in early March and some order books that will be inaugurated in the middle of next summer.
The new model will present a design closer to that of a minivan than an alternative to the new Volkswagen Multivan, with which the difference in size is more than considerable, occupying the gap left by the old Sharan. A model that will not be the first with zero emissions in the commercial vehicle division, but it will be the first of a new generation, and that will add a purely commercial variant in a few months with the ID Buzz Cargo.

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz 2022, on the way to Spain
With the test cycle practically completed, the manufacturer has started production at the German factory in Hannover, where its pre-production prototypes are being seen in a new preview. However, a fleet of units faces a real test by fire: they are already traveling the little more than 1,640 kilometers that separate the Hannover factory and Barcelona, for an international press launch, so don’t be surprised if you find a fleet of these prototypes on the road.
Of course, the camouflage will not take off until March, although the main aesthetic features are perfectly visible. The new model will offer ample interior space, selling in Europe with a standard wheelbase and in the United States, from 2024, only with an extended version between axes with no less than three meters. Two highly modular interior options that will vary between six and nine seater.
The new ID. Buzz is a unique model that will not have a “sister” variant in any of the other three brands of the German group. Under the bodywork, it will have a large lithium-ion battery, with different levels of capacity and moving up a notch. The options include a top of the range with just over 110 kWh, and a maximum autonomy close to 700 kilometers. The offer will also comprise different versions, with one and two electric motors, all-wheel drive and up to 370 horsepower.
