Hugo Lopez-Gatellundersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, reported this Tuesday at the morning conference, about “a new change” in the national policy of vaccination against Covid-19: “We started with children from 5 to 11 years old”.
He reported that this Thursday, June 16, the registration for the vaccination against Covid-19 in girls and boys from 5 to 11 years of age, who will receive the vaccine developed by Pfizer-BioNTech.
In the Health Pulse report, headed by President López Obrador, the undersecretary indicated that a contract was signed with the US pharmaceutical company for 8 million doses and detailed that the vaccination process for minors will be carried out by municipalities, so that it will not be a simultaneous process throughout the country.
He informed that the registration will be made on the page https://mivacuna.salud.gob.mx.
“There is a new change in the National Policy against Covid19, which consists of the following: we start boys and girls from 5 to 11 years old, it is the change (…) We are going to open with boys and girls from 5 to 11 years old, for this purpose, as we had said, when we have it ready we will announce it, now we announce it: the contract has already been signed with the Pfizer company, for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine that we are going to acquire around 8 million doses that will allow us to start that process of vaccination.
What will vaccination be like for children between 5 and 11 years of age?
“It will be activated by municipalities. The modality will be mainly in conventional health facilities, but also some temporary units, such as the famous macro-centers and other special units. You have to be aware of the call for each municipality, it will not be simultaneous throughout the country, but rather it will be opened in the different states and municipalities and for registration the page is the same: https://mivacuna.salud.gob.mx. Registration opens as of this Thursday the day after tomorrow, this Thursday, June 16,” she stated.
In the Treasury room of the National Palace, López-Gatell pointed out that the registry will help a lot for the logistical planning of vaccination operations for minors.
