The Lamborghini Urus has conquered a new record, this time on Pikes Peak. The Italian brand has not delayed at all, and after announcing its intentions, it has been launched to achieve the most brutal climb and in the shortest possible time. The perfect argument to strengthen sales of the long-awaited facelift that is about to debut.
In just over a week, the great Monterey Motor Week in California will reopen its doors, as will the Pebble Beach Pageant of Elegance 2022. A new edition where there are already some four-wheel protagonists that are known to debut at this fair for the wealthiest pockets. The Lamborghini Urus Facelift is one of them, so the firm has taken advantage of it to achieve the best sales argument.
The record in the ascent to the Pikes Peak, which is held by other competing models such as the Bentley Bentayga, “first cousin” of the Italian SUV, and which was missing this one in its showcases at the Bologna headquarters. The Lamborghini Urus Evo has been presented to the rise, which you can see in the video below these lines, with a special camouflage that dresses the body but reveals its new image: the “Full LED” headlights have been revised, as has the front bumper turned into a succession of cooling grillswhile in the rear it presents discreet changes in the pilots and in the skirt of the defense.
The Lamborghini Urus becomes the fastest SUV in the world in production
Lamborghini Urus boasts record on Pikes Peak
Renewed image but the Urus has been crowned the fastest production SUV in the world, managing to overcome the succession of 156 curves on a winding road of 20 kilometers and with an average gradient of 7% in just over 10 and a half minutes. Specifically, the judges have stopped the stopwatch at 10:32.064 when the Italian brand’s best-selling model since its launch has passed the finish line.
The race, which is held starting from an altitude of 2,862 meters and reaching the end at 4,302 meters, has completely shattered the record achieved by the British luxury SUV which set a time of 10:49.902, so the Italian is already officially the fastest production SUV in this “Pikes Peak International Hill Climb” race and, curiously, accumulates a fair hundred races. The Urus was specially equipped for the occasion with a roll cage, racing seats with six-point harness and a fire extinguishing system.
One more difference in this Urus is not in the engine, which maintains the 4.0-liter V8 biturbo that animates it, but in the footwear. Pirelli has designed some special tires «P Zero Trofeo R» in sizes 285/40 R22 at the front and 325/35 R22 at the rear, with a tread surface of semi-slip tread to deliver high performance, both on dry asphalt in high ambient temperatures and on wet surfaces in cooler temperatures. In a few days, the revised Urus will be completely uncovered and we will know all its details.
