A recent Silent Hill branding update could hint at a hopeful revival and a VR title of some kind. Silent Hill has lain dormant since Hideo Kojima’s beloved demo was removed from PlayStation Network in 2015 following Silent Hill’s cancellation. And despite countless rumors to the contrary, there is very little to suggest that a new installment will see the light of day anytime soon.
A rumor from last year claimed that Konami plans to revive three of its biggest video game properties: Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill. This change is reportedly due to the publisher’s internal restructuring in early 2021. Should these unsubstantiated claims prove true, fans could receive confirmation that there is more than one Silent Hill title in development. However, the above is still unfounded, since Konami itself has not said anything about it. But now it seems that a ray of hope has emerged.
Has anyone discovered a brand update Silent Hill via chizai watch. Interestingly, Konami Digital Entertainment requested the changes this month. Clicking on the Silent Hill page on chizai-watch brings up several listings in the “Service Products” section, one of which includes “virtual reality goggles.” This could indicate that Silent Hill could be getting the treatment of Virtual reality, though it’s worth noting that additional listings range from “simulator for vehicle driving skills training” to “automatic photo sticker creation machine.” Simply put, the mention of VR may not mean anything in the grand scheme of things.
As always, fans shouldn’t get their hopes up about a Silent Hill revival just yet. Konami’s rebranding could be little more than a routine move when it comes to IP ownership. Rebirth has been a long time coming though, so perhaps there’s more to this update than meets the eye. If so, the wait to find out for sure could drag on for a while.
