at the beginning of the year, Konami announced that they would be holding an auction of NFT’s to celebrate the castlevania 35th anniversary. To the surprise of many, this auction ended up being a resounding success, and as a consequence, the Japanese company announced that they will continue selling NFT’s to “preserve content as memorial art.”
As part of the company’s most recent financial report, Konami mentioned that they will go ahead with the sale of NFTs:
“We will also be selling Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) as part of our efforts to preserve content that has been loved by our customers as commemorative art.”
Konami He did not specify exactly how they intend to integrate these NFTs with their games, however, it is a fact that they have no intention of moving away from it practically. At least not currently.
Nowadays, Konami hasn’t done much in the gaming space, and we wouldn’t be surprised if the company relied on nostalgia for its IPs for gaming. NFT’s. So surely in the future you will be able to buy these digital tokens from franchises like Metal Gear SolidSilent HillCastlevaniaContraand more.
Publisher’s note: Surely if the Castlevania auction had not been so successful, Konami would have thought twice before entering this market. Maybe in the future, when the topic of NFTs has died down a bit, Konami will reconsider.
