Knorr Pasta Lista soup with cheese-flavored sauce and a touch of herbs was one of the products that Profeco pointed out that it does not comply with current regulations to allow its sale in Mexico.
Because of this, Unilever, the holding company that markets this soup brand, released a statement stating that the product is no longer sold in the country.
“We stopped selling this imported product from Germany because it did not have the desired displacement,” details Unilever.
“As in any discontinuation process, there is the possibility of finding the remaining product at the point of sale,” he adds. “The published photo of the packaging that appears in the study shows that it is a Knorr product with labeling prior to NOM-051, which includes the GDA’s and a non-current graphic identity of the brand,” he details.
According to Profeco published with its report called “Quality of Instant Soups”, where some Knorr brand soups were analyzed, along with many others, the Pasta Lista Fusili variety, a product imported from Germany with a net content of 65.5 grams, does not comply with the current labeling.
“Our Knorr soups comply with Mexican regulations and, like the authorities, we are committed to contributing to creating a healthier environment where our products can be included in the context of a balanced diet,” says Unilever in its discharge.
“At Unilever we have been working for two decades on optimizing our food portfolio, reformulating the categories to reduce the presence of nutrients such as sodium, sugars, trans fats and saturated fats, following the recommendations of the World Health Organization and of the country, as well as through our Nutritional Improvement Program ”, he concludes.
For labeling breaches:

Misleading on their label:
- Instant Pot Spicy Cheese Flavored Chicken Soup BLUDAK CHEESE, since it claims to be chicken but in its ingredients it mentions that it contains “artificial chicken flavor” and “artificial chicken flavor powder”.
- Instant noodles chicken flavor OTTOGI RAMYON, because the image seems to induce the consumer to think that it contains carrot, when it does not.
They do not declare nutritional information on the product:

Despite this operation, the product of Maruchan RamenHowever, it is expected that it will be immobilized in future operations due to its minimal quantity of vegetables and misleading advertising.
