The Vegeta we know in dragon ball long ago belonged to the royal family of the Saiyans. He was the son of King Vegeta and that is why we know him as the prince; although with the death of his father he should assume the throne for all.
But since there is no people to rule after the destruction of the planet and the annihilation of almost the entire race, then Vegeta has dedicated his entire life to fighting (for both good and evil) and increasing his powers.
However, there was a time when this royal family had all the hallmarks of a kingdom, including its own symbol, shield or insignia, very much in the style of the Spartans or any representation of Greek mythology.
We get to see this symbol in the battle suit of King Vegeta and the then boy Vegeta. This is not the case of Tarble, Vegeta’s brother, who always refused to use the symbol since his father kicked him out of the family and the planet. So, to hide his identity, the Saiyan also avoided having any connection with the royal family, according to the Dragon Ball fandom.
Vegeta’s royal family symbol
We call it symbol, shield or badge since it differs a lot from the kanji that Goku uses in the suits according to the teacher who has trained him. In his history as a warrior, the Saiyan raised on Earth carried the identifications of Master Roshi, Kamisama, Kaiosama, one of his own and that of Whis, in Dragon Ball Super.
But in the case of the symbol of the royal family it is different. You have to be born within King Vegeta’s dynasty to be able to carry it on your chest. Trunks could use it, if the circumstances had been given.
This symbol, as the image shows, is a kind of trident that could be compared to Poseidon, king of the sea in Greek mythology. In addition, its meaning is of constant struggle and fighting to the death, very similar to the slogan of the Spartans.
