Interviewed by Variety as part of the premiere of Shang-Chi and the Lengend of the Ten Rings, Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios spoke about Boseman’s work for the animated series What If…? a project that he was very excited about
“Obviously we didn’t know what his last performance would be. He came numerous times, I think three or four times, he was very excited about it. Someone’s probably already talked about this, but they came and read the episode, and then they came and said, ‘I love this version of T’Challa.’”.

Last December Kevin Feige reported Marvel Studios’ decision not to recast the character of T’Challa for Black Panther II, renamed Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
However, Feige has spoken with Ryan Coogler, director of the film, since he wishes that some of the audios he recorded for What If…?
“We had a conversation afterwards with Ryan (Coogler) about how we could get some of this, not from the story, but from that voice for Black Panther 2. And now of course it’s terribly sad and bittersweet, but I’m so happy that it does. let’s have and so happy that he did it for us, and I’m excited for the fans to see it too”.
Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will continue to explore the incomparable world of Wakanda and all the rich and varied characters featured in the first film.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, will feature the return of Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Lupita N’yongo and Angela Basset. Mexican Tenoch Huerta joins as Namor, the Submariner. Its filming will take place between the months of July to December 2021.
Written and directed by Ryan Coogler Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be released on July 8, 2022.
