In 1955, Emmett Till, an African-American teenager, was lynched and brutally murdered by white supremacists after, during a vacation trip to Mississippi, the 14-year-old walked into a store and interacted with a Caucasian woman who was there.
The event served as inspiration for the film Till: Justice for my son, which follows the journey taken by Mamie Till-Mobley, the young man’s mother, to get the law to recognize the case as a crime. Based on this pertinent and inspiring story, the film has garnered universal acclaim, particularly for its performances.
Here we tell you everything you need to know about her and her arrival in theaters in Latin America:

In Mamie’s moving journey of grief turned into action, we see the universal power of a mother’s ability to change the world.”
What can we expect from Till: Justice for my son?
In interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actress Danielle Deadwyler, who stars in the film, highlighted the fact that it is an extremely important project, as it addresses an issue that, unfortunately, is still present throughout the world, but is highly concentrated in the United States: the racism. She this she said she:
“There is joy in doing a certain kind of work to raise awareness. The responsibility lies in telling the story well and sharing it appropriately. [Mamie] she was angry. It is a loss that will never return. It is a visceral experience. I can’t give up those feelings, because I’m a black mother in America with a black son. It is something that persists. It already happened before they gave me the film, during the film and after the film. So sharing this experience – talking to people about why, how, when, where – is just as important as making the film. You want to do everything right.”
