Although the immunization campaign in our country is progressing at the stipulated rate, there are still some problems. The main one is the restriction that has been imposed to apply the biological to minors. While the same federal authority has already determined the return to face-to-face classes throughout the country. Therefore, there are multiple complaints from parents who consider that their children are exposed to being infected. Against this background now the most recent news is that a judge ordered to vaccinate all young people between 12 and 17 years old without comorbidities.
New federal order
As reported by several media, the judge of the seventh district court in the State of Mexico, Claudia Irene Gámez Galindo, summoned the federal government. In this way, now the Ministry of Health (SSa) has one week to modify its national immunization plan and eliminate current restrictions.
“The responsible authorities are granted an extension of five business days, counted from the legal notification of this agreement, to comply with the second operative part, in terms of the fourth recital, of the definitive suspension issued by this court on October 7 of the current year ”.
So far there is still no response from the federal government but it should be remembered that in the past President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has already expressed his opinion on the issue. What he said is that his government is not opposed to vaccinating young people between the ages of 12 and 17 without comorbidities, but rather there is still no medical recommendation.
For his part, the head of the SSa, Jorge Alcocer, recently went to the Chamber of Deputies to appear. During his speech there was a phrase that has generated a strong discussion. He assured that his grandchildren have not been vaccinated against Covid-19 because it is not safe.
On the other hand, in other countries of the world, the application of the biological drug to minors has already begun for weeks and even the coverage is increasingly wide. In fact, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends that children be vaccinated from the age of five.
The only minors who can receive protection
While in the case of Mexico, at the moment the Pfizer immunization can only be applied to young people over 12 years of age who have any of the following comorbidities:
- Chronic heart conditions.
- Chronic lung disease
- Chronic conditions of the liver, kidney or digestive system.
- Chronic neurological disease.
- Endocrine diseases.
- Moderate to severe immunosuppression.
- Aspienia or spleen dysfunction and hematological diseases.
- Serious genetic abnormalities that affect multiple systems.
- Teen pregnancy.
Meanwhile, so far only young people without comorbidities have been vaccinated through individual protections. But that is expected to change and now everyone can receive the biological without exception.
