No one seemed surprised that Google struck down Stadia Games & Entertainment, its internal division to develop exclusive video games for the Stadia service. However, doing so brought consequences to the studies that were already part of its structure, as is the case of Typhoon studios. Now the Creators of Journey to the Savage Planet Found New Studio with Support from Tencent and keeping the vast majority of people who already worked on it. His name is Raccoon Logic and it has been established in Montreal, Canada, where it will have its base of operations and where they hope to continue working on AAA projects.
“It is very rare that everyone is fired at the same time, so you do not have problems with the flight of people to other companies. It was a unique moment in time and we felt that we had unfinished business which we take care of. We thought, ‘Well what if we get the band back together?’ ”Says the Raccoon Logic co-founder, Reid schneider in a chat with the GamesIndustry portal. This is how the second part of the now-defunct Typhoon Studios came about, whose fate went down the drain when Google decided to close its video game creation division after acquiring the company at the end of 2019.

However, at Raccoon they needed financial stability and that’s where it comes in. Tencent. As the aforementioned source explains, the video game giant in China has made a minority investment in Raccoon Logic so that the creators of Journey to the Savage Planet can continue to be mostly independent, but with a financial base that allows them to face their next projects. Now we just have to wait to know what they will be.
